5.5.1 warble introduction

type: chorus, vibrato and tape warble · by maiko

A wobbling delay: chorus at half mix, vibrato at full mix, and at a slow rate and a small depth the wow and flutter of an old tape machine. Its wobble never quite repeats, like a real tape transport.

The screen is a cassette: the hubs turn with the wobble, and the pulled-out tape waves with the depth and rate.

New effects are in the effects list: SHIFT + T3. They work on synths, on drums and as the master effect (MIXER, T3, then SHIFT + T3). The list also has FILTER, TE's own filter effect, which the stock firmware hides.

5.5.4 tips

  • For tape warble: rate about 0.5 to 1 hz, depth 10 to 15, mix 99.
  • As the master effect it's a stereo chorus: the right side wobbles a quarter turn ahead of the left.
  • Works on a synth, a drum kit and as the master effect (MIXER, T3, then SHIFT + T3).
  • On a synth or drum it comes back switched off after a power cycle: press T3 to switch it on. Switched off, the screen dims and shows FX OFF.
  • Saved as TE's filter, so a sound or master that uses it still loads on stock firmware (or op1r alone): there it is TE's filter with the same knob positions.
