5.6.1 plate introduction

type: plate reverb · by maiko

A classic plate reverb (Jon Dattorro's design), from short and tight to about 12 seconds.

The screen is a plate on springs: ripples spread from the driver and reach further with a longer decay, a felt damper covers more of the plate as the tone gets darker, and the cable coils with the pre-delay.

New effects are in the effects list: SHIFT + T3. They work on synths, on drums and as the master effect (MIXER, T3, then SHIFT + T3). The list also has FILTER, TE's own filter effect, which the stock firmware hides.

5.6.4 tips

  • It starts at about 1.7 s, 20 ms pre-delay, 30 % mix.
  • Stereo as the master effect, mono on a synth or drum.
  • op1r's REVERB is a different one; PLATE doesn't need op1r.
  • Works on a synth, a drum kit and as the master effect (MIXER, T3, then SHIFT + T3).
  • On a synth or drum it comes back switched off after a power cycle: press T3 to switch it on. Switched off, the screen dims and shows FX OFF.
  • Saved as TE's filter, so a sound or master that uses it still loads on stock firmware (or op1r alone): there it is TE's filter with the same knob positions.
